Describing the India-China relationship "noble," the Chinese Consul General in Mumbai Niu Qingbao today said here that without the input and support of the two countries, no major problem can be solved in the world.
India and China would have to work hard for a negotiated and mutually acceptable solution to the border issue, Niu said at a function organised by Indo-China Friends Association.
Asked about reports of Chinese incursions along the Indo-China border, he pointed out that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself had stated that the Chinese "are not going to invade India".
Niu also dismissed as "negative propaganda" reports about China hacking Indian government websites and alleged "dumping" of Chinese goods in India.
Attempting to hack Indian government websites would be akin to "playing with fire," Niu said, noting India is more advanced in the information technology sector.
"China is not so dumb as to play with fire," he said. On the contrary, he said lakhs of Chinese computers were "remote-controlled by vicious sources" out of Chinese borders and China itself was a victim of computer hacking.
Regarding alleged "dumping" of Chinese goods in India, Niu agreed that China enjoyed trade surplus, the reason for which was advantage in manufacturing and Indian Visa restriction on Chinese business people.
Chinese machinery narrowed the gap between demand and supply in India, he said. Chinese infrastructure companies helped break bottleneck of growth in India and help develop industrialisation, he added.
He said now China-India friendship was indispensable for common development. The bilateral trade was 61.7 billion USD in 2010-11, which was 21 times more than what it was in 2000, he said. China was now India's largest trading partner and vice-versa, Niu said, adding there had been rapid growth on two-way investments also.
